Spring School
Spring School is a joint element of the IMIM programme, for which each cohort of students meets on-site in Mannheim or Heidelberg to participate. The focus of Spring School is mainly on soft skills, and also includes activities from the field of industry and innovation.
Frequently, the complete IMIM consortium meets during the Spring School for the yearly management meetings. Thus, during the weekend, the IMIM management from all EU and the Associated Academic Partner universities will be present to coordinate the students’ mobility, work on the curriculum and discuss the applications from students wishing to start for the next intake. This also provides a unique opportunity for students and management to interact.
What Does It Involve?
Following completion of their first semester, all students in the cohort will gather in Heidelberg or Mannheim. The IMIM Spring School focuses on the students’ personal growth and development and their acquisition of soft skills. Workshops and lectures typically cover topics such as effective communication, giving and receiving feedback, conflict management, understanding team roles, team development and team collaboration.
During the week, first year students will also have the opportunity to further explore mobility options to which they have been introduced before in an online meeting, engage with IMIM staff regarding their questions and ideas and socialize with their peers at various events. All students are cordially invited to attend the committee meeting and take an active role in the curriculum development, supporting the student representatives whose participation is mandatory.
The last two days of the school are dedicated to the Industry & Innovation Days at the Medical Faculty in Mannheim, University of Heidelberg. These days focus on career opportunities in the industry and networking, and they fall under the School of Translational Medicine, which is a newly established umbrella organization for young scientists at the Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University.
