Rachel Ann Delicano (Philippines)
Being an IMIM student is one of the most challenging yet fulfilling experience one can have.
“IMIM gave me the opportunity to learn from the best mentors and join outstanding research groups and learn technical (molecular biology, entrepreneurship in the context of biotechnology and biostatistics) and soft skills (cultural sensitivity and presentation skills) which are necessary for a translational medical scientist. I also lived in two countries in the span of 1,5 years which has been enjoyable, rewarding and challenging. I was able to keep up to date with the current techniques in creating 3D models in cancer and doing register based research in diabetes. IMIM offers learning opportunities both in the academic and practical setting.
Besides the skills I have acquired, I met wonderful people who encouraged me to become the best version of myself. I have learned the different ways of how people live in different countries; how the Swedes love to fika and collaborate and how the Germans are very efficient with their tasks. Moreover, the vast network that IMIM has allowed me to talk to experts in different fields ranging from start-up founders to industry leaders.”
