Through global learning, hands-on experience, and meaningful connections, IMIM gave me a unique pathway to grow both scientifically and personally.

“Reflecting on my IMIM journey, I am deeply grateful for the invaluable life and career experiences it provided.

One of the program’s greatest strengths lies in its hands-on training. During two six-month internships, I became a fully integrated member of research labs, gaining technical proficiency, effective communication skills, and essential problem-solving abilities. This immersive experience laid a strong foundation for my growth as a young researcher, preparing me for the next step (in my case, a PhD) in a variety of professional roles.

The program fostered a global perspective, encouraging collaboration with peers and instructors from around the world, and broadening my understanding of diverse approaches to scientific research and cultural exchange. Studying across three countries—Sweden, Chile, and the Netherlands—allowed me to appreciate different academic structures, teaching styles, and interpersonal dynamics.

The connections I formed during the programme were perhaps the most rewarding part of my journey. My fellow students brought unique perspectives from multidisciplinary scientific education and cultural backgrounds. The faculty members and visiting lecturers were leaders in their respective fields, providing us with expert guidance. The blend of academic mentorship and exposure to professionals in industry and entrepreneurship opened new paths for future growth.

One particularly memorable aspect was my internship at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The internship was formative for me as a developing scientist, and it has greatly contributed to my professional growth thanks to expert supervisors and relevant techniques. On a personal note, I met incredible people both in my professional and personal life, I picked up a new language through immersion, and I got to explore Chile with its beautiful and diverse nature, rich history and culture, and hospitable people at every step. I want to emphasize I was fully supported throughout the process of arranging and conducting an internship by Prof. Claudia Saez and PUC Chile’s International Office. I was also grateful to have supervisors who genuinely cared about my well-being alongside my academic progress. Their mentorship made my experience feel both secure and rewarding, and I wholeheartedly recommend future students consider PUC Chile as an internship destination.”
